About the author
Helena Macree Tsavalas was born in Athens, Greece in 1915 and became a writer when she first published at the age of nine years old. Specializing in children’s books her stories generated games, dolls and puppets that she created herself. Literary contests regularly earned her first prize awards in Athens, Paris and Lausanne. After the war, she won a three-year scholarship by the French government to further her studies in Paris. Then she continued to study in seven Universities including the Sorbonne, and Columbia University. She has received testimonials from educators, artists and writing professionals on both sides of the Atlantic.
