Description
Soon-to-be fourteen year-old Rockie Stoneshaker, who has been offered a summer job with the local newspaper, learns that she must travel to England with her parents, who have just inherited a family castle. Rockie is worried at first, but the editor promises to hold her job if she writes a good story about the castle. Spending her summer in the castle turns out to be quite an experience. While exploring the castle, Rockie discovers that a couple people who claim to be relatives have been forging antiques in the castle cellar and trying to get their hands on a priceless family heirloom. She also meets a ghost named Gwendolyn with unfinished business and a boy who helps her investigate the phony relatives. Gwendolyn aids in the investigations and, in exchange, Rockie helps Gwendolyn uncover the truth about Gwendolyn’s own murder. Rockie’s parents, who have been busy converting the first floor of the castle into a restaurant, are not aware of the strange goings on elsewhere in the castle. But on the restaurant’s opening night, they certainly find out. Rockie gets her story, and much more!
About the author
Lugenia Lynn Lightle grew up in a small town south of Columbus, Ohio and started writing stories as a youngster. Her favorite place to write was a loft over her parents' garage. Lugenia continued writing until she graduated high school then put writing aside to get married and raise a family. When her youngest daughter asked her to make up stories at bedtime, Lugenia started writing them down. Since then she has had three books published: RUGUMA: New to America, Rockie Stoneshaker and the Haunted Castle, and Please Don’t Take My Sunshine Away which was published as an eBook. Lugenia is in the process of publishing another middle grade eBook, and will soon republish Ruguma as an eBook as well. Asked where she gets her inspiration, Lugenia said many of her characters come to her in her dreams.
