He grew up in Brooklyn, New York City where he began his career in the mid-60's as a fifth grade teacher in New York's Lower East Side. During his early years of teaching, Andy's students lived with impoverished families and amidst violent gangs.

His early teaching experience on Manhattan's lower East Side also proved to be a process in self-discovery. His administrative career began in Norwood, New Jersey where he served four years as a building principal and 25 years as Chief School Administrator of the Norwood Public School District in Bergen County. Author Andy earned a doctorate at Teachers College, Columbia University.

After 42 years in public education, Andy's imagination is unleashed! He focuses on writing and presenting a program, "Ignite Your Dreams", to inspire others to tell their stories.
