Elizabeth Meeks was born in Lincoln Nebraska.  She is the youngest daughter of Ruth and N.V. Meeks Jr.  Her father was an instructor pilot at the Lincoln Nebraska Air Force Base for B-47's.  He was killed in March of 1963 when his craft's engine caught fire on takeoff.  He managed to gain enough altitude for his crew to bail out safely and then stayed with the plane long enough to steer it away from a farmhouse and an elementary school before ejecting out of the plane, his parachute didn't open and he was killed.  He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross posthumously, and was honored by president John F Kennedy.  Her mother Ruth was a beloved kindergarten teacher and is still remembered with respect in the Lincoln public school system.

Elizabeth has three older brothers, John Cowel, Kent Cowel, Matthew Douglas and one sister, Terry Showalter.  John passed away in 2016.  He was an avid outdoors-man and a very talented artist.  Kent served his country in Vietnam then went on to own a pet store in Arvada Colorado.  He is now retired and enjoys golf and fishing.  Terry was the main influence in Elizabeth's life.  Terry is also a incredible artist and an accomplished singer.  She has always encouraged her little sister to continue to write and Elizabeth loves to model some of her characters after Terry.  Matt was a surprise brother who was discovered through Ancestry.com.  He was a very pleasant surprise and a welcome addition to the family.

Elizabeth graduated from the University of Nebraska after making the Dean's list.  She worked as a school teacher in Phoenix Arizona, managed a pet store, returned to Lincoln and worked as a photographer before settling into the financial industry where she has worked since the year 2000.

Elizabeth constantly writes.  She writes poetry, lyrics, short stories, children's stories and novels.  Without Millard's Wings was her first published book in 2006.  Before She Remembered Keith is her first romance novel but not the last, the story continues and Elizabeth can't stop writing it.  She wears a custom-made ring which she never takes off.  It is engraved with three words, things she aspires to be, have and do each day, those words are Integrity, Kindness and Write.
