Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Brenda is from a
family of healthcare workers and immigrants.
Her late father migrated to the United States from Trinidad and Tobago
in the 1970s and joined the Army as a Medic for four years later serving as a
Unit Manager at Morningside House Nursing home for 30 years. Her mother, a
Nursing Assistant of Metropolitan Jewish Geriatric Nursing Home for 22 years,
and her grandmother was a Clinic Supervisor of 37 years. Following in her father’s
footsteps Brenda joined the Armed Forces as well. She enlisted into the United
States Navy at 19 years old and began enrolling in college courses to hopefully
become a Registered Nurse. After
attaining her Vocational Nursing Degree from Kaplan College in San Diego, her
military obligations limited her from committing to Nursing Field
completely.
Brenda decided to pursue her bachelor’s in Professional
Studies which only inspired her to seek her Master’s in Management with
conflict resolution. As a life learner, Brenda understands the importance of
keeping an open mind and that there may be several methods to solving issues. With
her Leadership roles in the Navy, her experience as a mother, and a Wife, Brenda
understands that there is always a situation that requires a different
approach.
Recently mindfulness has become the center of her life and
she has embarked on this journey to seek a happier inner self through
meditation, yoga, prayer, reading, writing, music, and being one with nature.
Brenda continues to inspire others through daily interaction, motivation and HOPE.
