About the author

Fred Dawson is a writer, musician, businessman, speaker, community leader and family man. This is his third book in the series "Pearls: Women Who Radiate Success." In 2002, he started the '60s and '70s classic rock band Club Phred, which has earned numerous awards since its first public performance in 2004,and more than $5 million for charitable institutions. Fred is also an active member of the Newark Morning Rotary, and financially supports numerous nonprofits. The Fresh Start Scholarship Foundation is a special nonprofit he selected to receive all the proceeds from the sales of his "Pearls" book series. Fresh Start awards annual scholarships to adult women based on need, academic record and potential for success. Fred has performed with the likes of Micky Dolenz (of The Monkees) Spencer Davis (Spencer Davis Group), drummer Liberty Devito and sax player Mark Rivera (both of the Billy Joel band), Mark Farner (former Grand Funk Railroad legend), Felix Cavaliere (The Rascals), and The Late Show with David Letterman Horns. Pearls: Women Who Radiate Success
Book III
by Fred Dawson

Overview

Pearls: Women Who Radiate Success, Book III is a continuation of candid, deep dive interviews with women we tend to admire―the ones who have climbed to the top of the ladder. Fred Dawson gives us an up-close-and-personal look at the lives of extraordinary female trailblazers, leaders from all walks of professional life: higher education, politics, entrepreneurship, law, big business, small business and non-profit. These women have leapt over barriers, recovered from grief, made profound sacrifices, broken rules, discovered untapped courage within themselves and given selflessly to others. They are mothers, wives, daughters and friends.

Description

The Pearls: Women Who Radiate Success Series is a tribute to my mother, Marguerite June Dawson. She was a remarkable woman who inspired the premise for my book series, by saluting other amazing women who shared her same qualities of courage, character and determination. Those qualities made me the man I am today: a successful businessman, a happily married man and a die-hard rock 'n' roll musician. Each chapter is dedicated to showcase an amazing trailblazer. A window into discovery of each woman's personal true stories. Journeys that are meant to encourage and uplift the reader. Of course this isn't always easy, and it wouldn't be possible if not for the bravery of the women willing to go there. They reveal the good and the not so good, the obstacles and the triumphs. Often pain is a common thread, but like the nature of the Pearl, the true grit produces the most beautiful, radiant priceless Pearls. To find the Pearls here, we take the deep dive and it will not disappoint! Chapter after chapter is filled with the most unique and special Pearls. No two alike, each different in their narratives and outcomes. However, all share priceless value and wisdom beyond measure. Readers will forever be changed by these fascinating women. They are the teachers, business leaders, and the change makers. With each book, I celebrate my mother, who died just four hours short of her 60th birthday in 1987 (four years after her retirement from Chrysler). "Pearls: Women Who Radiate Success" tells the stories of remarkable women who have lived interesting lives, who rose to the top of their professions, and who are changing the world for the better. I chose each candidate carefully. They didn't have to be wealthy or famous necessarily, but wisdom, experience and the desire to make a positive impact on the lives of women, but not limited to just women. I encourage men to take a journey with these women as well. There is much to be gleaned and they too can find those precious pearls of wisdom. Like me, I'm sure they will find a better appreciation for all the women in your life. These women leaders, doctors, nurses, directors, innovators, founders, business owners, government dignitaries were selfless to share their stories. I'm grateful and honored to know them as colleagues and new acquaintances, moreover, to share their life stories. Most of them live and work in the State of Delaware or in the nearby State of Pennsylvania.
