About the author
Mark Christopher Hess was born in Oxford, Pennsylvania on March 1, 1961, and is the oldest of the three children of Richard and Sandra Hess. He grew up in suburban Philadelphia in the town of Devon, and began summering on the island of Martha's Vineyard at the age of three. After graduating from the Salisbury School in Salisbury, Connecticut, and after spending two years at Hobart College in Geneva, New York, he moved to Edgartown, Massachusetts, and held various jobs in the community. It was there, in this special town, that Mark began his golfing career. He has been employed as the General Manager of the Edgartown Golf Club for over thirty years, and during that time, met his wife, Kelly, with whom he has two children, Owen and Warner.
