Overview

Harvard historian Andy Spencer experiences a series of paranormal occurrences, leading him to believe he has stumbled upon a portal to World War II Czechoslovakia sixty years in the past. Whether it's real or a mere fabrication of his mind, he must find a way to cope with living in parallel realities without losing his sanity. Soon Andy learns that his two worlds are interconnected, and he finds a way to work it to his advantage. In the past, his unparalleled knowledge of history gives him a powerful insight into the future and helps him survive the war he's caught in. In the present, his experience on the other side of the portal sheds light on the riddle he has been struggling to solve his entire career, the true cause for the Third Reich downfall. But as he seizes the opportunity to piece together a puzzle that will redefine the greatest conflict in human history, Andy's two paths begin to converge, and the mystery becomes an existential threat on his life, the world he lives in, and everything he has grown to care for.

Description

In 1941 Hitler spearheaded the Axis Powers war campaign on a sure path to victory and world domination. Late June of that year, Germany initiated Operation Barbarossa, invading the Soviet Union and diverting the core of its military force to the east. Launching the eastern front proved to be the single most detrimental blow to an otherwise flawless military campaign and consequently cost Germany the war.

Sixty years later, a young historian is on the verge of unravelling the truth behind Hitler’s preposterous decree. Years of research have led professor Andy Spencer to believe a group of top Nazi officials and members of Hitler’s inner circle were behind the decision to invade Russia. The reason? So that Germany would eventually lose the war and the world would be saved from Hitler’s fascist dominance. But before he goes public with this groundbreaking revelation, Andy needs a proof – a living testimony that would give his theory the seal of legitimacy. Problem is, he is running out of time and sources. He is arranged to interview an ex-Nazi fugitive, supposedly one of the last living witnesses who could support his thesis. But when they meet, the old Nazi swears he recognizes Andy from the war and collapses under the strain of emotional burden before giving him anything of substance.

The episode leaves Andy with nothing but a reoccurring dream in which he is in Nazi occupied Europe sixty years in the past. For the next five nights, he keeps returning to the same place in a timeline parallel to his present-day life. Everything he experiences registers in his mind with such clarity, it feels more like he is living an alternate reality in his sleep. Andy fears he is losing his sanity, (Could it be that his Neo-Nazi contact man has subjected him to a mind-altering substance?) yet, every visit brings about fresh clues that connect his dream world with the real world, raising a possibility that maybe what he is experiencing is so profound, it goes beyond what he or anyone could ever conceive.
