"I'm 12, not stupid." ...announced Beverly's precocious son, Billy, in this enjoyable romp through the SW United States. Housekeeper Beverly is mistaken as a witness to a murder by both the mob and law enforcement, causing Beverly to flee on a multi-state road trip, taking Billy and her friend, Marci, along. This is my favorite Walker O'Brien story up to now. The plot moves nicely forward towards an exciting conclusion. And, there's a pink car! Read more
