About the author
Stacie Cooper, Psy.D., Life Coach, Mindfulness & Pilates Instructor Dr. Stacie Cooper graduated from Pepperdine University in 2009 as a Doctor of Clinical Psychology, with a passion for working with teens and young adults (e.g., training at Duke University's student counseling center as an individual and group counselor, working as a career coach for at-risk high school students in south Orange County). She focuses on preventative and strengths-based efforts as a teen and young adult transition coach (Teen Wisdom Certification) and mindfulness instructor (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Teens, MBSR-T) emphasizing the mind and body. She has been a mentor for Girls Incorporated's College Bound Mentorship Program and was the keynote speaker for their Eureka summer camp for middle school girls in 2016. She teaches group reformer Pilates classes in the local community and private reformer sessions out of her house. Stacie started writing as a child and is now excited to be pursuing this passion more formally. She first published a fiction novel, "The Masks We Wear," in 2012 and more recently, two self-help workbooks for teens...first on self-harm and then on trauma and adversity, both with New Harbinger. She got married and had a baby boy in 2021, which inspired her to venture into the world of picture books, her first one being a playful rhyming book encouraging children to find creative ways to stay active and play outdoors. She currently lives in San Juan Capistrano, CA with her husband, son, and dog. Find her at www.awareandthriving.com
