79% of blind Canadians have never had a job. McCreath, blind since age nine, paints a vivid picture of what it is to be blind in Canada and offers a compelling critique of the lack of existing infrastructure to support independence of the blind through employment. He eloquently and knowledgeably offers proactive solutions involving government, not charity, to solve this issue. He has arranged for his book to be available across five formats: paperback, eBook, braille, digital mp3 Apple Alex Talking Book, and DAISY Audible Audio.

From 70 percent to 80 percent of blind Canadians have never had a job. Graeme McCreath believes now is the time to establish a system that allows the blind to achieve autonomy rather than having to rely on charity. “We can show our capabilities and push the federal government to persuade potential employers to ‘give it a try.’ We should apply for the jobs the same as everyone else and be held to the same standard.”
