Overview

Non-fiction series of vignettes in which people shared with the author their family situations. Many of these families had a "Golden Child" who received most, if not all, of the attention from the parents to the detriment of the other child. Invariably there was a narcissist and his/her enabler(s). The failure of the parent or enabler to realize that love is infinite. The one on the bench was the person who was left out, blamed for all the bad things that happened (which they did not do). This book is an effort to show that narcissists are manipulators generally to the detriment of a family member who becomes the "one on the bench."
