Some reviews of her first book, Just Listen, follow:
'While reading "Just Listen" I realized that I missed the opportunity to connect with a friend that I'll never meet. Our mutual appreciation for the arts became apparent the moment I started to read this book. Her written words were so musical they made my soul want to dance. Upon arriving at the last page of this book I realized what great ideas and feelings she had written. It also made me sad to think of all of the words and ideas that due to her death would never come to be. This book is definitely a tribute to Tracy's life and all of the beautiful creativity that she had within her. Her words truly stir up feelings that every human being has experienced. The difference between Tracy and many of us, is that she knew how to express it in the beautiful form of poetry. I thank David for compiling all of her writings into this book and for helping the world discover the genius of this talented woman. It also gives us a clearer understanding of why he loved her. Though their time together was not nearly enough, I am very happy to know that they found each other. '

Just Listen is the title of Tracy Lukoff's book of poetry. Tracy died in 2020 and Just Listen was prepared by her husband David for publication. David and I have been friends for about 60 years after surviving as teenagers and going separate ways. I never met Tracy and I am thankful for these poems as a chance to know her in a small part.
After reading Just Listen I sent an email to David--"Got Tracy's poems, couldn't put it down, she had so much to give, lovely, …many thanks." Just Listen is a showcasing of her personal ways through life. Many big ones. Showing gratitude, achieving personal balance, dealing with mistakes, and of course listening. These reflections are hard to stay away from including thoughts about wariness of others who may have less love to give. Her deep interest in the arts and dance show brightly as do her incredible life experiences, and capacity for love.
I am an Emeritus Professor, retired from the University of Cincinnati. I taught and supervised MA & PhD school psychology students and researched intervention decision making. My poetry background is only its appreciation. Just Listen has many helping connections to these professional roles and life.
