This is just the beginning of my journey to be recognized as part of society and as a well known inspirational poet. Knowing my voice will be heard through my poetry by enlightening and enhancing public awareness that lesbians have a voice and place in society we are no different than a heterosexual woman.

Dontrella Mcdonald a native of Chicago south side started writing poetry over 25 years ago. In January 2010 Dontrella became the CEO and Founder of Chicago’s first known urban lesbian magazine. Lez Elegance Magazine is unlike any lesbian publication in the Midwest; it highlights the creative, passionate, and controversial side of the alternative lifestyle which is often misrepresented and un-noticed. The magazine has built an on-line fan base of over 9,000 followers via Facebook and Twitter and average over 30,000 hits per month on Lez Elegance website. The Feathers of Life will be Dontrella first published book of poetry but trust you will not be disappointed with her work. She has gained much respect for being able to create the right moment with her words.
