Overview
A true story of a psychologist who loses a client, a spiritual teacher, and a son to death and the impact on her life and career.
Description
This is a love story, although not in the conventional sense of romantic love. This book explores the transformative power of suffering in a revealing narrative informed by spiritual practice. This book explores what it takes to keep your heart open in hell even if it is of your own making. The author relates her struggle in living life with a broken heart not as someone special, but rather as one of the billions of women who strive to live on through adversity day after day. The story creates a context in which a "larger story" can unfold and be revealed. The author states "When we long for God, for the ineffable, for the Beloved of our soul, all our relationships give us this opportunity to find God/Goddess in the other, and every relationship gives us a chance to open our hearts and with the opening, we open to the wounds that go along with love." As we journey with her, we become witness to the blessings of meeting many great saints and spiritual teachers. Much of this exposure through personal encounters and transmissions. Through these teachers, we are brought to a place where we grow to learn and understand the nature of love and how closely related it is to a broken heart.
About the author
I've been on a quest to figure out " What is this life all about" and "how do I fit into this "? So I took two traditional paths: ministry and psychology with social work thrown into the mix. I've spent 40 yrs in the fields of mental health, social services and ministry. I've been a therapist and mother and grandmother. I've always been committed to the healing of humanity and the earth with all her precious creatures. I started writing this book 20 years ago, but it never felt 'done'. Now I can see why. There was more to the story. I have finally found my voice. Something has shifted in me just as the world is shifting. I want to be part of the leadership for this conscious evolutionary phenomena and there was that little voice inside saying: Do Something! And here it is.
