Spying on Messiah

Jonathan and Micah, youths in first century Jerusalem, had a secret: They snuck out at night after their parents were asleep. This night they found themselves at the scene of Jesus' arrest. As they fled, Jonathan's garment was left in the hands of an assailant. He raced away, naked. This event set the course for the rest of Jonathan's life in a world of fanatics and Brutal Roman soldiers.

Follow Jesus? Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could go back in time and followJesus . . . spy on Him as He went about teaching and healing? This is exactly what Jonathan and his friend Micah did. Until one night in the olive garden, when the world changed. This was just the beginning for these boys. For one there would be tragedy, for the other a life of danger and persecution––but also a beautiful wife and two children and a satisfying career as a shipbuilder, not to mention an exciting life in the early church. Jonathan's journey tells us there is no “final story” with God. There is no sin or crime beyond His forgiveness. And there is no place on earth, in heaven or in hell where He can't find us. “Nothing can separate us from the love of God.”

Carl Wren, a graduate of Texas Tech University, worked as a reporter-photographer before starting his own newspaper. He served as a pastor for seven years, then went back to the business world with his own printing company. He and wife Mercedes have five children, 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He writes out of a background of over 40 years as a Christian.
