Bob Blinn has been a professional filmmaker, songwriter and music producer for over 40 years. After 20 years in Chicago’s film business, Bob came to Columbia College Chicago in 1991 as the Career/Internship Advisor for Film/Video students. He designed the internship program in Chicago, and established internship opportunities in LA, New York, and France. He later co-produced and co-wrote songs for the album, A Handful of Sunshine with his wife Mary. He also owned The Right Track Recording Studio where he produced and engineered several local album projects. He is a musician and songwriter, and wrote I Still Can’t Say Goodbye for country artist Chet Atkins. British singer, Charlie Landsborough recorded the song, which hit number 2, and stayed in the British Top 20 for 43 weeks. On October 25, 2005, Merle Haggard released I Still Can’t Say Goodbye on his album, Chicago Wind. Johnny Cash covered the song in concert. During the month of March 2010 this song was featured on the PBS Network across the country as part of the show, Chet Atkins: Certified Guitar Player. In 2005 Bob’s short film, Super Eight premiered at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival and the Chicago International Film Festival. In October 2006, his short film, Sax & Violins premiered at the Chicago International Short Film Festival. In 2008 his film, Is It Rolling, Bob? premiered at the Chicago International Short Film Festival. In 2009 his film, Side By Side Effects premiered at the Chicago International Short Film Festival. His :60 spot introducing Columbia College’s Faculty/Staff Scholarship Initiative, The Buck Starts Here was submitted for a CLIO award in Spring 2010. The short film, NORAD premiered at the Chicago International REEL Film Festival 2011.
