Bill Woodcock was born in Baltimore, Maryland. After a brief time in Catonsville, Maryland, his family moved to Elkridge, Maryland where he was raised by his father, grandmother, and great-grandmother. He was educated in the Howard County Public School System and attended The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Biology and a Master's of Science degree in Business.
Professionally, Bill has had a diverse career. He has worked in biomedical research management and administration, public health, and arts management, primarily in the government and academic sectors. Bill is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
In terms of civic affairs, Bill has been involved in dozens of organizations as a volunteer, serving in leadership roles in many. He ran unsuccessfully for the Maryland House of Delegates in 1998. Among his favorite roles in the civic space are his time on the Oakland Mills Community Association Board of Directors, the Board of Directors of the Inner Arbor Trust, his work as a founding member of the Maryland Student Legislature, his volunteer work with Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and his work as a youth sports coach in basketball, lacrosse, and football.
Bill is the author of the blog 53 Beers on Tap and the founder of the Forward Maryland podcast. He has written over 2100 blog posts and recorded over 220 podcast episodes.
Bill has two adult children and lives in Columbia, Maryland.
