Menopause
The Horror, Humility, and Humor of It All!!!

Overview

What is this affliction called Menopause and why does no one talk about it? Well, I wanted to scream about it! Menopause, aging, and women's change of life has been swept under the rug for too long—especially since we'd be the ones to vacuum it up. This humorous, humble, and horrific book takes you on my personal journey of Menopause and all its gory details. I hold nothing back and I'm determined to make Menopause a daily topic of conversation, or at least a conversation every now and then.

Colleen McIntosh punches below the belt with Menopause: The Horror, Humility and Humor of it All. This unapologetic account of her personal journey from menarche through menopause is a balm of comic relief to the pain and puzzlement of life's changing seasons. As a men's health specialist I understand how isolating, painful and scary hormonal and sexual changes can be for men, so I applaud Colleen for sharing her experiences and engaging all of us in a much needed conversation. As a husband who has survived this phenomenon, I found comfort and closure in her revelations, and I highly recommend it to my brethren so they can better understand and support their better halves.

Aaron Spitz MD - Urologist. Author of The Penis Book: A Doctors Complete Guide to the Penis -From Size to Function, and Everything in Between.

McIntosh’s Menopause is a truly honest instructional guide for surviving and thriving through menopause. This “personal account of my aging carcass” is peppered with hilarious one-liners, from her reference to menopausal hot flashes as the original climate change to her Latin breakdown of the word menopause. It might not make you ache for the day your hot flashes begin, but you certainly won’t feel alone once you get there.

Description

I have been journaling about my Menopause and aging for many years because I was the only one who would listen to my ranting and raving. I've finally reached an age—at 64—where I'm ready to reveal my battle scars. I decided to create an instructional, humorous guide that goes one step further into the abyss of my menopausal years and my aging carcass. I also wanted to make Menopause a conversation and debunk the myth. Yes, hot flashes and mood swings are real! This book exposes the truth of many menopausal stages affecting and ravaging the aging female body. Menopause is inevitable, and I hope to educate you just a little bit of what's potentially to come—because no one told me! I also felt that illustrations would give you a much-needed chuckle. I believe that humor is the essence of life, right up there with breathing. I could not have made it through menopause without it. I hope that writing this book will make people sit up and pay attention to every woman they know and meet. If you laugh a lot and cry a little while reading this book, then I've succeeded in my quest. I hope all my efforts comfort you in your transition into aging. You are not alone.
