A lifetime of Love for a father, one last promise fulfilled. How The Horse Ate The Apple is the first children's book based on the poems written for Charles Blount's father, Southern Lawyer, Jerry Holmes Blount. Once asked how he came out in court on a case Jerry told Charles "I taught him how the horse ate the apple!". Always amused by his father's Southern Sayings Charles wrote a two page poem depicting how an older horse bested younger horses with his life learned wisdom. "The trails spiraled left and right and around, down several deep dips as the youngest wore down". A life lesson any child should learn. Adults may not be the fastest or strongest but they sure can be the wisest!

Standing in a field beneath a large hill, stood 10 horses with bellies to fill!

Our rhyming adventure takes place in a field occupied by several horses. They were mostly younger horses except our main character Buddy. Buddy had been there many years. The youngest spot one last apple hanging on the tree above the field and challenge each other to see who can reach the top and eat that last sweet yummy apple! What they did not expect is for older Buddy to teach them one of life's great lessens! Our older counterparts may not be the strongest or fastest but they sure know a lot!

Join Buddy and his friends and find out HOW THE HORSE ATE THE APPLE!
