Description
The Golfer’s Guide to Rules and Etiquette has been written to help eliminate the novice golfer’s awkwardness and unfamiliarity with the many behavioral nuances of golf and to encourage him or her to develop their own game in such a way that golf will become an ever-rewarding experience for them and their golfing companions. How many activities do you engage in – meals, parties, movies, concerts, or meetings which take four hours? Four hours is a considerable block of time that exceeds just about every other activity except sleeping and working. It is really very simple but so important to you and your playing partners’ enjoyment of the game, that you MUST understand the fundamental secrets of speedy play and how to play in a way that does not distract your playing partners! The Golfer’s Guide to Rules and Etiquette is as essential to your golf game as your equipment and your swing, and much more important than your wardrobe. Follow the rules and you will enjoy the game more and be a popular member of the foursome no matter what your handicap. Don’t follow them and no one will want to play with you no matter how good you are. Chapters include a Preface, Introduction, The Rules of Golf, Improving Your Golf Swing, The Protocol of Being a Golf Guest, Caddies, Tournaments, Handicaps, Giving and Taking Putts, Taking Care of the Golf Course, Letting Faster Players Through, Games You Can Play, Getting the Game into Perspective, Some Golf Course Economics and a Glossary of Golf Terms The author, Jonathan D. Commander grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and realized at an early age that golf was a sport he could play for a lifetime. An avid golfer, he has played golf courses across the country and enjoys introducing beginners to the game of golf. He wrote the book with the idea of sharing some of the language of golf, rules of golf, etiquette and tips in order to eliminate the first feeling of confusion that most new golfers experience. By eliminating some of the mystery that accompanies the introduction to the game, a novice can learn how to play golf knowing the rules and etiquette before he or she sets foot on the first tee. The Preface was written by author Gordon Ettie who has been playing golf on and off for over twenty years and believes that golf depends on the individual not a team, so all skill levels can play. Remember it is not whether you win or lose but whether you enjoy yourself on the golf course. Using the common sense etiquette tips and rules of play spelled out in this book will also ensure that your partners enjoy the game more, too. Whether you need tips for hitting the ball straight, or how to act on an unfamiliar course this Guide is packed with information that will not only make you a better golfer, but a better team member and guest.
