Description
Richard Duncan is a medical doctor who solves mystery illness cases. He sees patients with complex health issues and tries to sort the underlying causes that can then be reversed. A company named Diagnostix has a plan to gradually introduce intelligent systems into healthcare in such a way that the need for most physicians is ultimately phased out. It is using an algorithm-based system to make diagnoses for patients and come up with treatment plans. Richard's sister Marcy is diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis by the Diagnostix system. She is put on immune suppressing drugs that impact her health. Richard enlists the help of a hacker John to delve into the deeper programming of the Diagnostix system to determine its true purpose. Complicating the picture is the involvement of Clarice, Richard's electronic personal assistant who insinuates herself more and more into his personal life. The principles of Synchronicity and Entanglement are interwoven into the story as Richard, John and their neighbor Audrey ultimately work together to try and undermine the powerful forces working to shift medicine for its own hidden purposes. Through narrative form, Emotional Intelligence in a Complex World also introduces the reader to a new paradigm for healthcare. Functional medicine is an evolution in the practice of medicine that better addresses the healthcare needs of the 21st century. By shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach, we can better address the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms. Dr. Richard Duncan assesses a wide variety of underlying factors not part of his medical training including mineral deficiencies, hormone imbalances, chronic infections, toxins, immune dysfunction and others.
