Overview
This is a mini cookbook where I took some of my favorite Paleo recipes and some of my family recipes and showed people how to eat clean while using the same foods they may currently eat.
Description
WHAT IS THE PALEO LIFESTYLE? The Paleo lifestyle is simply this...no gluten. Believe it or not, the ten recipes in this book are all Paleo (gluten free) and Keto! The Paleo diet is known by other names, for example, the Caveman diet and the Hunt and Gather diet. But Paleo is not a fad diet, it's a lifestyle change. Paleo recipes include saturated fat, red meat, eggs, and butter. Worried? For years we have believed that consuming foods high in saturated fat and cholesterol would clog our arteries and increase our risk of heart disease. However, newer studies have completely discredited this heart-healthy hypothesis, simply because the threat never existed. Just remember FAT burns FAT...carbs don't burn fat. Paleo eating is never boring...we eat flavorful foods like meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds. We use herbs and spices to make sure each dish is pleasing to the palate. In "The Paleo Primer," the author records the benefits to eating Paleo: - Optimal brain function - Balanced moods - Fat loss - Healthy joints - Strong bones and teeth - Clear skin - Appetite regulation - Incredible strength and fitness "The Paleo Primer" also states the following are signs your diet is not working: - You're storing body fat (e.g., extra chins, man boobs, beer belly, bingo wings/flabby arms, muffin top) - You're a serial snoozer (hitting the snooze button repeatedly each morning) - You pass gas...A LOT! - You have skin issues Give the Paleo lifestyle a try for just 21 days...you will change your mind...change your health...and eventually change your lifestyle.
About the author
WHY I STARTED THIS CLEAN EATING JOURNEY Several years ago, my mother was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. Eventually diabetes claimed her life. I thought I probably had it as well, so I had my doctor test me, and I was given a Type II Diabetes diagnosis. I didn't change my eating habits right away. I joined a CrossFit box in my area, and they introduced me to a lifestyle called "Paleo." The first day I reported for my workout, the coach told me about Paleo and told me for the first twenty-one days that I was not to have any sugar, bread, soda, etc. I thought to myself, "They must be crazy!" I continued to work out at the box, but I ate what I wanted to eat. Eventually, during one of my workouts at the box, I was doing a workout called "The Filthy Fifty." The workout is comprised of 50 reps of various exercises. During the first exercise, a set of fifty 2o -inch box jumps, I missed the box (on number 47) and fell on my left side. I immediately knew I had torn my rotator cuff. I completed the Filthy Fifty workout, then headed to the doctor. I had in fact, torn my left rotator cuff. This meant that I would be unable to work out for several weeks. At that point, I made the decision to change my lifestyle. I changed my diet, decided to start eating Paleo, lost twenty-two pounds and lowered my A1C (how glucose is measured in your body). I had rotator cuff surgery and still lost weight. When I went to my doctor for a follow-up visit, he told me that he had never had a patient to have I had rotator cuff surgery and still lost weight. When I went to my doctor for a follow-up visit, he told me that he had never had a patient to have surgery and lose weight. He asked me what I did while in recovery. I told him that since I couldn't work out, I started eating Paleo. He said, "Well, whatever you're doing, keep it up!"
