About the author

Lauren Smith is a Kansas City born and raised artist and the creative behind PaintSmith Studio and this book. She is a wife, momma to 3 littles, and an NICU nurse. She is a busy gal but makes time for art since it is her passion. Lauren has taken art classes since she was very young and loves all mediums but fell in love with painting in high school. She finds something so relaxing and therapeutic about mixing colors together on a blank palate. Something is so satisfying about watching something in her head come to life on canvas, paper or fabric, just by the way she moves her brush. Lauren did a summer intensive at The Art Institute of Chicago before college and really honed in on her technique. She has been taking full advantage of every opportunity to "practice" ever since. Lauren's true love is painting for others. She loves doing custom work and has painted on everything from canvas and paper to clothing and walls but for her most recent project, she wrote, and hand painted her own children's book. "Firefly Finds the Alphabet". Her dream came to life after growing up in her grandmother's incredible gardens. She wanted to paint them for her children to remember and cherish too, just in a different way than she did.
