About the author
Louise Masano has spent over 20 years creating commercials for major advertising agencies in New York. Among them are campaigns for Diet Coke, Revlon Cosmetics, Hyatt Hotels, Brut Fragrances, Springmaid Sheets and Snuggle Fabric Softener, as well as for products to help alleviate wrinkles, congestion, and p.m.s. Six of those years were devoted to creating international commercials and print ads for one of the world’s most popular weight loss products. The production of these campaigns involved hundreds of interviews and focus groups with frustrated dieters. From that experience, along with her own distress of gaining weight from “mindless munching” and then subsequently losing that extra weight through “conscious consumption,” came insights into the ways people who benefit from a lifetime of thinness think and act differ, from those who constantly struggle with food deprivation or resort to diet gimmicks. In addition to illustrating her book, Louise is a professional portrait artist and enjoys designing and creating clothes. She lives and works in New York City.
