Hello to my Readers!
Here's a little something about me. I love Florida. I love that my family roots are here. I love the steamy heat of the tropics. I love how weird it is that the further north I travel in this state, the deeper into the south I get. I love the sweet Southern drawls and the friendly folks of the panhandle that remind me I'm home. I love the trees and the wildlife. But mostly I love the water. Our warm Gulf of Mexico, clear, cool springs, meandering rivers, and mighty Atlantic Ocean make my heart smile.
I graduated from Florida State University and found my way into a career as an Exercise Physiologist. This career, though meaningful, had to share time with weekend fun: exploring our waters from the beach, by boat, and with dive tanks. After a few years, my husband and I were enjoying raising our children as Florida babies and I happily moved into a new career as a homeschool mom. But as much as I try to slow time, children grow up.
So now I find myself in a position to be a care-giver of a different sort. Our Florida waters have felt the effects of mistreatment -- exacerbated by powerful hurricanes that test nature's resilience -- and I now gently advocate for better human practices and rehabilitation of marine systems.
I enjoy zero monetary profit from the links I've included over on the left of this page. But I want to share them with anyone who may not already know the good work these people are doing for this state that I love.
Thanks for visiting my page. I hope I've brought you a smile or a positive thought or maybe even inspiration to notice the beauty that surrounds us.
