I was born and raised in Greenock, Scotland. I left when I was 24 so I have now been here in South Florida just as long as I lived in Scotland. I am officially half American and half Scot. Very weird, in some ways I will always be Scottish but in others I recognize I am very much American. I have always loved reading, I inhale books of all kinds. Most influential authors for me would be Stephen King, Barbara Kingsolver, Harper Lee and Jodi Picoult. Books that left a mark would be pretty much everything by Stephen King but especially Carrie, Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, To Kill Mockingbird needs no explanation and Jodi Picoult Nineteen minutes.
I read a LOT of Robin Cook as a teenager and in those very malleable years I learned to love medicine. I thought I would become a scientist and dreamed of working for the CDC in Altanta. Life sometimes takes you on detours and on journeys you don't understand. Instead of working for the CDC finding a cure for AIDS or Swine Flu I found myself living and working in Florida and revisiting my passion for medicine in Paramedic School, which in turn brought me to Fire Flies.
