Cathay's life is wrapped around words and writing. She worked almost 40 years in the administration of adult literacy programs, mostly in California public libraries. Now semi-retired, she continues as a consultant in the field. She works from her home in Spokane Valley, Washington. That is, when she isn't out walking one of the many forested trails alongside the rivers and lakes of the Pacific Northwest.

Cathay is a believer in possibilities, a dreamer, and an encourager -- especially when she puts thoughts into writing. As a teenager she discovered that she could best sort out her thoughts and express herself in writing. In her own words, she shares, "When I put pen to paper — or watch a screen fill with words while clicking on a keyboard —  thoughts and ideas come together in clarity. They take formation. They tell me what I didn’t even realize I was thinking, or knowing, or seeing. Writing refreshes and inspires me."

Her goal is that her words will also refresh and inspire her readers, causing them to reach beyond what they ever thought possible.
