Christy Scollin, graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 1977 with a degree in Animal Science and a Children’s Center Certificate. After college she went on to enjoy a career in the field of science, including working as a biochemist, a histotech, a winemaker, and teaching a chemistry lab class at Mendocino College. Although enthusiastic about her work in the field of science, she has always enjoyed children and writing. This enthusiasm led her to start writing children’s stories in 2012.


Christy has written a series of middle grade books about a spunky girl detective which include; The Adventures of Presley Pickens, The Adventures of Presley Pickens-Case of the Home Burglaries, and The Adventures of Presley Pickens- Case of the Mysterious Happenings. Prior to that her other literary works include several short stories, two memoirs, and a chemistry lab book. Her memoir, Our Journey to Mount Whitney, won first place in a recent writing contest and was published in The Noyo River Review, Vol 6. Currently she’s working on a middle grade novel about a Native American boy during the 1800’s. She’s a member of  SCBWI, has attended numerous writer’s conferences and workshops, and is currently part of a local Ukiah, children’s writers’ group.


For fun Christy loves reading, writing, hiking, working with animals, gardening, traveling, spending time in nature, and being with her family and grandchildren.
