Author Info

W. J. Humphrey didn't begin writing until after his retirement. He had worked for a religious publisher and also an office supplies wholesaler. He has lived his entire life in Nashville, Tennessee.

Humphrey's love of westerns began when he was a child, watching the thirty-minute westerns on television on Saturday mornings. The Lone Ranger, the Cisco Kid, Sky King, and Rin Tin Tin were among his favorites. Next came pony rides at the elementary school festival. As he got older, there were trips to rental stables, and in those days there was no such thing as a "guided ride." After paying the money and climbing on the horse, you were on your own. Walk the horse or run the horse? It was up to you. And riding at a canter or an occasional gallop was a lot more fun!

Although he is now a little too old for a ride, he still enjoys western movies, especially those with John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, or Kevin Costner. He is also an avid reader of western novels; his favorites are those by William W. Johnstone, Ralph Compton, and Louis L'Amour.

"Trouble on All Sides", published in 2018, is the second book in his Wright Family Saga series. The first, "A New Land; A New Life", was published in 2017. Both follow the trials and triumphs of thirteen-year-old Ben Wright.
