About the Author

Author Info

Rosie Walker is a native Texan and long-time Houstonian. Her career has been eclectic: magazine editor, feature writer, advertising representative, technical writer, ghost writer, trainer, collections agent, secretary, type setter and bookkeeper. Often, those roles overlapped, especially during the 15 years that she was owner/publisher of Houston Downtown Magazine.

She has worked for several newspapers, including The Houston Post (no longer in operation), the Houston Chronicle, the Port Arthur News, the Texas Catholic Herald and the Philadelphia Inquirer. Her "Madison Avenue" experience was working for Ziff-David Publishing Company.

As a grassroots volunteer (usually), consultant (occasionally) and candidate (twice), she has worked in more political campaigns than she can count. Rosie and her husband Mac Funk live in the Woodland Heights neighborhood of Houston.
