Dr. Karakas is a board-certified endocrinologist and internist and a professor at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine. She established the PCOS program at the University of California, Davis and treated thousands of women with PCOS. She trained internal medicine and family practice residents, and endocrine fellows. She also conducted clinical studies focusing on the effects of different foods and supplements on obesity, insulin resistance, and hormones in PCOS. Her research received national and international support, including from the National Institutes of Health. She dedicated her career to improving the health and well-being of women with PCOS and received the “Outstanding Clinician” award from the Department of Medicine for her accomplishments. Dr. Karakas believes this book will empower readers to take better care of themselves and become healthier.
