Author Info

Lynda James-Gilboe is a retired sales, marketing, and customer experience executive who spent decades in senior roles at publishing and library information technology companies.  Lynda is now the principal of her own business, AdaptLeadSucceed, offering business consulting and mentoring services.  She publishes a blog providing practical insight and advice on a variety of leadership and communication topics at adaptleadsucceed.com.  But more than this, Lynda is a daughter with a story to share about the very difficult journey she and her family took together as her parents, and especially her mom, aged and needed increasing levels of care.  The story describes the emotions and experiences they encountered at key milestones along the way, while also providing important insights about the vast support chasm facing people with limited financial means who want to stay in their home or utilize assisted living options.  In “Mom Just Wants to Go Home,” Lynda shares what it was like to navigate through the health care system – hospitals, nursing and rehabilitation centers, home care services, elder care attorneys, and more – in a quest to do the right thing for her mom.  While sometimes uncomfortably personal, Lynda has shared the story with the hope that it can be helpful to the thousands of others who may feel alone as they face a similar journey in unfamiliar territory with their own parents.

Lynda holds a degree from Michigan State University and completed the University of Denver Publishing Institute program.  She is a former board member and marketing committee chair of Washtenaw Literacy and the 2020 Literacy Champion award recipient.
