Following his graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy, Bob served as an officer in the submarine force as part of a 28-year combined active duty and reserve career, retiring at the rank of Captain. Concurrent with the reserve portion of his naval career, Bob helped grow a small defense enterprise between 1978 and 2000. He spent the latter part of his career focused on business growth at a large defense firm. Since retiring from that company, he has continued to pursue defense-related consulting. In the midst of a successful career in defense, Bob has pursued many extracurricular activities with passion and dedication. He has written over 200 songs, the majority of them in the contemporary Christian genre, he swims competitively in senior Olympic competitions, and annually, he leads a team on a mission trip to build a house for a family in Mexico. He is a deacon in his church and is an active member of the Gideons International ministry. Bob was on the Academy Award-winning sound effects team for "The Hunt for Red October," and his "Out of My World" CD was on the ballot for the Contemporary Christian Album of the Year Grammy in 2013. Bob has previously published the book "Ten Things I Wish I’d Known When I Was Younger," which is a perspective on the Christian life.
