Overview

Once kids learn JustBE mindfulness skills, it shifts the way they experience life, helping them become more self-aware, focused, calm and kind in and out of school. Research suggests that mindfulness skills help kids develop self-regulation, emotional intelligence, and self-compassion. The good news is that the practices in this Guidebook only take a few minutes a day to feel these benefits.

Description

The JustBE Mindfulness Guidebook is for parents, teachers and counselors to help empower kids to calm their minds, focus their attention, and find their mental and emotional happy place. There are 27 mindfulness practices that are fun and easy to follow, and take about 5-10 minutes to practice. Each teaches a valuable, engaging lesson, that helps kids develop the foundation for a balanced and joyful life.

About the author

Nikki is a long time meditator, mindfulness teacher, and mother of two teen girls and a Dobie named Bardo.  After Nikki received her Master's in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from Naropa University, where mindfulness/awareness meditation was the foundation of her training; she wanted to share this unique wisdom with kids.  She began that journey in her youngest daughter's classroom almost a decade ago.  The teachers, parents and kids noticed the benefits right away which sparked her desire to continue sharing these practices throughout the greater Miami area. JustBE is also being spread by her eldest daughter, a junior in highschool who created an internship program where she and a group of her peers have been trained by Nikki to become Mindful Mentors in elementary school classrooms, offering weekly mindfulness practices from this Guidebook.

Nikki's hope for this book is that it will inspire more parents, families, classrooms and schools to practice how to JustBE--more aware, compassionate and empathic.
