Overview
This book looks at how our brains and the quality of our infancies have a profound and hidden influence on working the 12 steps and how working the 12 steps changes our brains. It is possible for us to spend many years as a member of AA (or any other 12-step program) and still suffer from certain problems that continue to baffle us. This is not necessary.
Description
Our brains and the quality of our infancies have a profound influence on working the 12 steps, which are so basic to any recovery program such as Alcoholics Anonymous. Working the 12 steps changes our brains. Therefore, the more we know about how the brain works, as described in this book, the more likely we will be to know what we're actually dealing with as we develop our own concept of a power greater than ourselves, work with a sponsor, take inventory, practice meditation and work with others. Our problems may be caused by factors of which we are totally unaware. This book spells out what may be causing these problems and what can be done about them through using the 12 steps and sponsorship. We need not change any steps. It is a question of where our attention is focused and the depth of our awareness. We don't have to be brain scientists.
