Overview
"School—it is definitely not like being at home. I am here to help you survive it." With that, Michelle begins her journey through Second Grade. Along the way, she meets new friends and gets to know her teacher, Ms. Mable. She learns about more than just math and reading as she navigates through some tough days.
Description

Follow Michelle through her early days of Second Grade to find out what this bright young student really needs in a teacher. Both she and her classmates are met with social and emotional challenges that teach them how to deal with perfectionism, working with others, and understanding themselves.   Advanced readers will be engaged in this story through the inclusion of high level vocabulary and sophisticated writing. They'll also find a good dose of laughter and tears, as well as some math challenges to keep them interested!

A great literature choice for use with bibliotherapy.

About the author
Julie Seymour taught in public schools for over 30 years, with 20 of those years teaching advanced learners. These students became her passion as she realized that both their learning needs as well as their social and emotional needs were quite unique. Her experiences working with these children inspired her to write this book. Julie currently lives with her husband, Steve, and their dog, Wrigley, in Texas. They, along with her daughter, Katie, have helped to make this book possible through their support and encouragement.
