Description
The authors, married for 34 years, combine their talents to produce a series of love poems written mainly from husband to wife: each poem is accompanied by a form of visual art created by the object of the poetry. The poet composed, for his wife, two poems each year, one for Valentine's Day and another for the anniversary of their wedding day. Like the sonnets of Shakespeare and Elizabeth Barrett Browning, the poetry in Verbal and Visual Art expresses deepest love one person can feel for another, while, at the same time, the inclusion of a piece of visual art to represent each individual poem reciprocates that love. The visual art forms became a passion of the artist beginning approximately eleven years prior to this writing.
The book is intended for people who have been in love, who would like to be in love, and are presently in love. The visual art, including photography, watercolors, and feltings not only enhance the poetry, but help make the book a perfect conversation piece and gift.
