About The Author

Writing has always been in Holly Gumke's DNA. The daughter of a dedicated and talented English teacher, Holly grew up in York, Pennsylvania, and graduated with just the second class of women from the United States Military Academy at West Point. After serving in the Army, Holly continued to hone her writing skills as a university administrator, while finding joy in her family, and her hobbies of songwriting, painting, writing, and volunteering. Holly is a proud mom, grandmother, wife, animal lover, songwriter, lyricist, and veteran who loves writing upbeat and engaging children's stories with relatable characters while using an easy rhythm and rhyme. She actively engages in her community as a volunteer and shines as an author and illustrator. Holly is inspired daily by her husband, family and friends, and her two incredibly cute rescue dogs. She understands the importance of reading to and with children and enjoys painting vibrant illustrations to spark young imaginations. Dubbed a "word magician" by a fellow songwriter, Holly's ability to tell a compelling story in rhyme, along with her love of art and design and desire to make others smile, have given her a creative edge to craft timeless children's stories. Holly draws inspiration not only from family and friends, but from her rich tapestry of influences and experiences to create one-of-a-kind storytelling experiences that engage and entertain young minds.

Tree Frog, Tree Frog, Is that You? I bought this children’s book as a Christmas present for my grand-niece. She’s 3. She loves it! Her mother is an elementary school teacher and gives the illustrations and rhymes rave reviews. Her grand-mother, my sister, used to run a day care center and has seen a lot of children’s books. She, too, says the story is terrific. Glad I bought this gift. It was a home run! Read more
