About the author

Rob Miller, originally from the Midwest, began his passion with rock climbing in the early 90's in southwest Colorado. He then migrated to the west coast and Yosemite's big walls, where he honed his expertise as a big wall free climber. With 30 years of climbing experience and 15 years of personal training, he is uniquely able to help other climbers improve their capacity and expand their horizons in the sport. He realized that climbers need a guide that focuses on the sport's unique challenges, so he set out to build an integrated, sustainable training program that increases strength, power, and endurance without compromising improvements to skill and technique. Whether beginning or advanced, "Training Guide for Climbers" will help climbers expand their abilities and expectations as they pursue this sport.

Description

"Training Guide for Climbers: Platinum Principles for Success" cuts through the myths and misconceptions embedded in today's climbing culture to help you develop and navigate a targeted training program for improving your route climbing or bouldering performance, a goal that can seem frustratingly elusive. The author provides the theory behind every recommendation, clear illustrations, and sample schedules. All you need in addition to this book is passion and dedication to reach your next challenge. Climbing is a compelling and even addicting sport, but improving can be frustrating. The desire to venture out more and climb efficiently and confidently is motivating, but optimizing this enthusiasm at all levels of ability hasn't been available. This book solves those issues, expounding on the methods to improve now and for years to come. Part I's overview provides training strategies to immediately enhance the climbing you're already doing. It also explains the context necessary to introduce additional training movements safely and effectively. Parts II & III outline years of reliable exercise progressions with step-by-step instructions and programming recommendations.
