"Most people have a story, starting the day they were born. But the beginning of my storybook, that special page was torn."
"Being Asian American has brought so many struggles and wars within myself, but it will forever be a part of my story."
Torn Pages is a collection of poetry, letters, and essays about adoption, racism, diversity and growing up as a person of color. The author includes pieces written from ages 6-17, illustrating her journey from child to young adult. She finds her voice by interpreting her adoption at different stages of life.
