About the author

Dr. S.D. Brooks has worked with babies, children and teenagers as a babysitter, camp counselor, after-school counselor, social worker, teacher, and now as a children's book author. As a young child, she was a Special Education student. The read-along style she shared with her mother at bedtime created fond memories of a soothing bonding experience while enhancing her reading skills so drastically, she was soon the one reading the stories to her mother, instead of the other way around. As a teacher, she had the opportunity to participate in song-filled read-alongs with younger students and interactive read-alouds with older students. Recreating that experience is the reason she began writing her own books. She hopes that her passion for storytelling will reach the masses. Dr. Brooks has a B.A. in Psychology and a Masters in Elementary/Special Education. There Are Elephants In My Apartment is her first book.
