Through the use of short fictitious essays and poetry, The Wisdom of Be Down & Some, follows the journey of a Black man still discovering himself after nearly 60 years of trying. My failures are ny very own. My accomplishments are because I listened to the wisdom offered by many old soldiers, many of whom are no longer seen but always felt.

I have spent all of my lifetime in the company of older men, each one uniquely gifted to show me...me. As I approach my 60th year of life, I still have a wife, and my children still love me, and my grandson thinks I am wise. It's a wonderful life.
