Overview
The Whirligig of Time. Who is Harry Ambrose and who's looking for him?
Description
The Whirligig of Time There's something not quite right about Harry Ambrose. As winter approaches on a dreary London night in 1963, a mysterious man tells his strange story. According to his colleagues, for the past eight years Harry has lived a boring, predictable life dedicated to the library department of a learned scientific society. But there's another Harry, one with shocking credentials. It's his past, filled with sins and blunders, that has crushed his hope of redemption. He suffers serious psychological damage inextricably linked to his former life. Will Harry survive this tumultuous year in London? Who's following him, and why? Will he find escape in the affection of a young lady? Throughout Harry's story, he struggles to understand and resolve his destructive personal shortcomings, the intimacy of death, an overriding sense of hopelessness and corruption. Like a whirligig – a child's spinning toy – will time resurrect to attain revenge?
About the author
Sean Currie is yet to be a best-selling author, but this is his third book, so there's time yet. He was born into the suburban life of Southeast London, the last of the baby boomers, in a relaxed world of the English semi, Association football and Carry On films. He grew up reading of other places and other peoples. Being a rebellious child and almost ugly for no reason, with increasing disillusionment of industrial action, power cuts and the Sex Pistols, he decides to see the world, from the inside out. His career has taken him to every continent and a lot of places where he met astonishment, poverty and war. He's never won a writing award, but he's pretty good at formatting. He had ups and downs in life, like most people, but in 1988 he found serendipity and has been happy ever since. He tells old stories, but does so under a third-person guise, so that's okay. Sean is married to his best friend, the best cook and the most beautiful Danny, who has never written a book but has agreed to read this one.
