The Stucklesses of Newfoundland
Our Story
by Tony Stuckless and Ross Stuckless

Overview

The Stucklesses of Newfoundland: • Who are our ancestors and where did they come from? • When and where did they settle? • How did we get our name and what makes it special? • How many Stucklesses are there today and where do they live? • Where can we go to help trace our own Stuckless ancestors? If you're a Stuckless by birth, it's almost certain that you're at least a distant relative of the two authors. Tony and Ross both have their roots in Twillingate, Notre Dame Bay, Newfoundland. As a Stuckless by birth, your roots are almost certain to lie there also. If so, you may have asked these questions and many more, all addressed in this book. The book is also a reference, with information such as a chronical of more than 100 articles in the Twilingate Sun (1880-1924), in which the Stuckless name appears. Other sources in the book can help you trace your own Stuckless ancestors.

Ross was already in the midst of putting together a family history titled 'Cause the fish are nearer here' to share with his three sons, nine grandchildren, and their future offspring. Soon Tony and Ross embarked on a more comprehensive book about the Stucklesses of Notre Dame Bay – the book you're reading about now.

About the author

Tony was born in Point Leamington, Notre Dame Bay, Newfoundland and for many years he's lived in Botwood, about an hour's drive from Twillingate. For several years Tony commuted to St. John's, the capital of Newfoundland, gathering an impressive amount of archival information on the Stuckless family. This was no simple task since there was no Internet from which to gather information at the time. Tony is a retired businessman, plays the guitar, paints, and is as friendly as can be.
