About the author
Janice Waugh publishes Solo Traveler [solotravelerblog.com], the blog for those who travel alone. She has been quoted in many media outlets including CNN, the Washington Post, the Oprah blog, the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times and the Toronto Star. In addition to writing, she enjoys speaking to groups about solo travel and was thrilled to be invited to do so at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. Her blog offers solo travel stories, tips, safety advice and destination ideas. The Solo Traveler’s Handbook was first published in 2011. This 2nd edition is published concurrently with four other guides on the “how” and “why” of travel. Collectively, they form a series called The Traveler’s Handbooks. Janice has a Master’s Degree in History. When not traveling, she lives in Toronto.
