About the author
Gary Roper lives in Durban, South Africa. He has been married to his beautiful wife, Nadine, for sixteen years and has a ten year old son, Joshua.
He had his first encounter with the Lord at age twelve and made a commitment to serve the Lord Jesus Christ when he was twenty years old. Having a desire to learn more of the Word of God, he completed a Diploma of Theology and is currently worshipping and serving in his local church. Gary has been involved in various exciting missions in Africa; sharing the Gospel in rural areas, baptizing believers in crocodile infested waters, and helping with food relief programs.
From a young age Gary had an interest in music and especially the analogies, allegories and poetic use of words , and so, with his love for the Word of God, he felt he had a story to share and wrote ‘The Realm’ as a tool to teach his son, and readers alike, about the character of Jesus Christ.
He has a passion for the great outdoors and enjoys travelling and adventure. The Drakensberg Mountains are one of his favorite places and the scenery in ‘The Realm’ is influenced by these spectacular mountains and the scenic Sani Pass. He spends his spare time dirt biking, surfing and fishing with his son. He has completed one of the world’s toughest ultra-marathons, the Comrades Marathon. He enjoys writing, listening to music (his favorite bands being Delirious, David Crowder Band and Jars of Clay) and collecting vinyl records.
