Overview
PJ, a great bowler himself, hopes to enter a professional tournament to earn money for a favorite charity, but being only 14, he’s sure the directors won’t permit it. He and his friends hatch a scheme. PJ wears a mask, explaining that he’s a secret government mob witness and must use an alias (Señor Mysterioso) and hide his identity. Being tall, the mask does the trick. Unexpectedly, news stories of this brave masked bowler appear everywhere. Mob bosses in several cities, each awaiting his own trial, individually sees a picture of this masked Senor - and believing him to be a secret trial witness against him, sends thugs to the tournament to prevent Mysterioso from testifying. With mobsters from all over descending on the tournament, bedlam follows - with wild fights, shootings and kidnappings galore. Meanwhile, PJ is trying to win the tournament against some of the toughest and sneakiest competitors one can imagine.
Description
In order to earn money for a certain charity, PJ comes up with a plan which he explains to his skeptical friends, Matty and Shelly. PJ is a terrific bowler and wants to enter a professional tournament that gives cash prizes. However, being only 14 years old, he’s sure the tournament won’t accept him to compete against adult professionals. What to do? The boys put their heads together and come up with a plan. PJ will wear a mask, and being big for his age, will easily pass as an adult. The explanation is that this individual, using the alias “Señor Mysterioso,” must wear a mask because he’s a secret government witness against a big mob boss and his identity can’t be revealed. All goes according to plan, except that this is such an interesting story – a masked bowler – that it becomes big news all over the country. Several gang bosses, who actually do have trials coming up, see the story and figure that this Señor Mysterioso is a secret witness against them – and each sends thugs to where the tournament is being held to stop this masked Mysterioso in his tracks. What follows is high adventure – with fights and shooting and kidnappings and cases of mistaken identity galore. And while all this is going on, PJ is trying to win a bowling tournament against some of the sneakiest, most brazen competitors that one could ever meet.
About the author
Artist, inventor, toymaker and author, Harvey Reese has been a story teller to kids his whole life. Now you can download some of these exciting adventures and enjoy his wild, colorful imagination with just the click of a button "I’ve always been a kid at heart and I write the kind of stories that I myself like to read – stories with lots of action, lots of twists and turns -- and lots of mystery to keep me guessing and keep me turning the pages. The PJ series provides all of that as 14 year old PJ and his friends gets into one scrape after another as they battle evil where they find it. If I didn’t already know how these books end, I’d buy them myself."
