The Paladin

The Paladin is a very emotional story about high school sweethearts, who reconnect at their twenty-year reunion. Twenty-years earlier, he was a high school basketball star, and she was a cheerleader and an athlete. They seemed to be heading in the same direction: a local college. But after graduation, they went their separate ways and lost contact with each other for two decades. Now they have returned with all of their friends, for one special night. A night filled with hugs and high-fives, but also lots of questions. Be sure to have some tissues handy as tears are sure to flow during some intense moments. There is no doubt this story will leave you wondering if fate really exists. Can two people find the magical connection that they once shared? Can a high school basketball star return to the court he once dominated and make everything right? Chris Behrens' short stories, The Paladin and The Counselor, both made the top 100 of the Lorian Hemingway Short Story Contests, in 2010 and 2011. Chris graduated from Dominican College in 2010. He received the Mother Lawrence Marie Award for Academic Excellence and graduated with Honors in English. He had an article published in a children's magazine, and a watercolor painting featured in a separate issue of the same magazine. Chris loves to read and write and coach high school basketball.
