About The Author

About the Author: James W. Story is an educator, conductor, musician, and storyteller whose love for music began with a simple baton and a dream. Growing up in the American South, he discovered the transformative power of music early in life and built a meaningful career spanning classrooms, concert halls, and community stages. Story is an Author/Playwright/ Music Producer/ Conductor and Composer) Grammy-nominated Educator of the Year 2015 and with decades of experience teaching from Pre-K to higher education—both in the U.S. and abroad, James has mentored generations of young musicians and continues to uplift others through his creative work. The Boy with the Baton is his debut children's book, based on his own inspiring journey of self-discovery, perseverance, and the mentors who helped shape his path. This is Story's second book. His dut book, This Is My Story, This Is My Song, This Is My Miracle, received regional acclaim. Today, James serves as Conductor in Residence for the Willow Oak Community Chorale and is active in local music ministry. He leads his jazz band with joy and continues to tell stories that bridge generations, promote healing, and celebrate the power of the arts. Wherever he goes, he carries a message of hope—and often, a baton.
